A 19th Century Crimean War Inkwell Desk Set

An unusual Inkwell Desk Set that has been crafted from grapeshot and caseshot from the Crimean War (1853-56). One is an inkwell with a hinged grapeshot lid and the other is a Quill or Fountain pen holder. The brass plaque is engraved with Cyrillic script, which in part translates as Sevastopol. A stunning desk accessory that would compliment the finest of  period desks.

Condition commensurate with age and use.

Provenance: Sweeney&Son purchased this from Irish Author Mr Peter Somerville-Large's collection which had been curated over many decades.
