19th Century Officers Coromandel Vanity Box

A quality C1830s Officers brass bound vanity box with fitted interior, lift out tray and campaign mirror. Originally belonging to one Major Scott Wellsborough or perhaps Major Scott of Wellsborough, England this box would have carried all necessary personal items for an Officer on the move with his regiment.  The box top has a recessed campaign type brass carrying handle inset with the officers name. Bound on all corners with brass to stregthen the box and help withstand rough transportation. The interior is lined with tooled red leather and comes with the original brass inlaid campaign mirror with distressed plate and long glass container, perhaps for a razor or toothbrush. Original early Chubb lock.

Condition commensurate with age and use. Some wear to the crushed velet and age related marks on the leather interior as you would expect.
