Beautiful c1880s Irish venacular ash and elm Sugan chair. The meaning of Sugan in the Irish Language is Straw rope. Which refers to the reddish brown heppen rope that is typically woven and used entirely for the seat. This chair has aged wonderfully with great  patination and wear. An essential decorators piece for the cosy cottage or country home.

Condition commensurate with age and use. Solid with no movement in the joints.
