A scuptural Irish 18th Century wrought iron Rushlight with candle sconce, wrythen twist stem and sitting on a crown base . The crown base is very particular to Ireland and is its main identifying feature. Rushes would be dipped in wax and clamped in the wrought iron jaws to provide light, hence the name Rushlight. If no rushes were avaliable then a candle could be used in the sconce. A wonderful decorative addition to a traditional Irish cottage.
Condition commensurate with age and use.
