A provincial rustic French walnut chest with beautiful graining, warmth of colour and original patina. A wonderful two plank top, original hinges, lock removed, a wrought iron key hole escuthcheon with flaming heart decoration. A lovely period rustic storage solution.
Condition commensurate with add and use. An old repair to the underneath of the lid. An old woodworm infestation, not active and retreated.
Provenance: Reputedly owned by a Senior employee of The Irish Times and purchased as part of a farmhouse sale in rural France may years ago.
